How to use
Put a dime-sized amount on your pet's toothbrush and gently brush the teeth and gums for 1 minute, about 30 seconds per side. Apply to both teeth and gums. If your pet will not accept a brush, apply the paste with a cotton applicator or your finger; ReNewedPet suggests working up slowly to a children's electric spin brush. Give a treat right after brushing to clear leftover paste and reward your pet. Brush 2 to 3 times a week and do not use daily, since overuse can cause digestive upset and hyper-mineralization, per ReNewedPet.
Use it for
- Regular brushing, 2 to 3 times a week
- Pets new to brushing, starting with a finger or cotton applicator
- Homes with cats and dogs, with a cheese or catnip flavor to choose from
- A starter set of paste plus a dog or cat toothbrush
Who it's for, and who it's not for
- For: dogs and cats whose owners brush 2 to 3 times a week and want a cheese or catnip toothpaste made without artificial flavors or sweeteners.
- Not for: daily use, or pets with bleeding gums, mouth pain, loose or broken teeth or mouth injuries, which need a vet check first.
Questions
How often should I brush with it?
2 to 3 times a week. Do not use it daily: ReNewedPet warns that overuse can cause digestive upset and hyper-mineralization.
Which flavor should I choose?
Both share the same base of echinacea, gotu kola, coconut oil, baking soda, Himalayan salt and minerals. The cheese flavor adds nutritional yeast and the catnip flavor adds organic catnip extract.
What if my pet will not accept a toothbrush?
Apply the paste to the teeth and gums with a cotton applicator or your finger, then give a treat right after to clear leftover paste.
